The Langhorne Council for the Arts will host Edward Hicks Day Saturday, April 23 from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24 is set as a rain date.
The event outside Hicks House will feature a petting zoo, face painting, games, crafts, costumed actors, colonial-era music, a pop-up art gallery, a virtual walking tour of Langhorne, vendors, food for sale, and the dedication of three murals inspired by Hicks and created by local artist Jean-Marc Dubus.
Hicks, a famed primitive folk Quaker artist who died in 1849, was born in the Hicks House, which sits at the corner of Maple Avenue and Bellevue Avenue in the borough. The building was once a residence, but after several generations of changes and expansions, it houses the Langhorne Coffee House and other small businesses.

Hicks is best known for paintings like “The Peaceable Kingdom” and “Noah’s Ark.”
The three new murals in the borough will celebrate Hicks (on the side of the building that bears his family’s name), the American Revolution and the borough’s role, and Hick’s Peaceable Kingdom.
