Veterans and military families pulled up Wednesday morning to a location in Bristol Township and received the supplies needed for a full Easter dinner.

With support from nonprofits Salute 2 Service and Caring for Friends and ACME Markets, hams, turkeys, fixings and more than 100 gift cards were provided to local veterans – mostly senior citizens – and military families.
The distribution took place at Salute 2 Service’s office off Bath Road at Forest Street.
Volunteers from Salute 2 Service, ACME, and Caring for Friends loaded up the more than 100 vehicles.

Rodney Wyatt, founder and executive director of Salute 2 Service, said the organization regularly hosts food giveaways, but the special donations for the holiday were a nice touch.
“This was to help out our veterans. We help veterans first, but we’re not turning anybody away,” he said.

Stef Arck-Baynes, a managing director of Caring for Friends, said the event wouldn’t be possible without donations from many groups, including ACME and the Warminster Food Bank.
With inflation at the grocery store, the food giveaway comes at a key time for veterans and their families who are struggling, Arck-Baynes said.
Lena Fowler, a U.S. Navy and New Jersey Army National Guard veteran who lives in Bensalem Township, previously used services from Salute 2 Service and now volunteers with the group.

“This is paying it forward,” she said. “This is a joy.”
