Farry, a Republican from Langhorne Borough, has been rumored for weeks to be considering running if Tomlinson decided to retire. LevittownNow.com broke the news Tuesday morning that Farry would be running for the seat.

The new Sixth Senate District, which goes into effect in 2023, covers Bensalem Township, Hulmeville Borough, Ivyland Borough, Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Lower Southampton Township, Middletown Township, Penndel Borough, Northampton Township, Upper Southampton Township, Warminster Township, Warwick Township, Warrington Township, and Wrightstown Township.

Farry’s state House district currently covers all of Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Lower Southampton Township and Upper Southampton Township and part of Middletown Township.

In an announcement video, Farry cited his 30 years of volunteerism in the fire service and legislation he has supported during his time in Harrisburg.

“Changing chambers won’t change my mission – I will be the voice for hard working families and our community in Harrisburg. Washington D.C. has failed us with rising gas prices, sky high inflation, and a commitment to woke culture that worries more about canceling people than protecting communities. That’s why it’s more important than ever who we send to the state senate,” Farry said.

In his video, Farry is seen chatting with Tomlinson outside of a Langhorne Borough eatery.

“Replacing Senator Tomlinson will not be easy, but I think I have the values and experience to continue representing our community in the senate,” he said.
