The death of Edwin Dunfee, 46, of Philadelphia, was determined to be a suicide by hanging, Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said Monday morning.

Last Tuesday, Dunfee was found unresponsive in his cell.

County officials previously said lifesaving measures were performed, but medical staff pronounced the inmate deceased at the facility.

According to court records, Dunfee was recently sent to the facility on a bench warrant and was slated to have a trial in May on a retail theft case out of Bensalem Township.

In 2013, Dunfee pleaded guilty to retail theft and was sentenced to prison, with a recommendation for him to serve his term at a therapeutic correctional center.
