A lot has changed in law enforcement in 50 years, and Bristol Township Police Department civilian employee Joan Hackbart has seen it all.
At the Bristol Township Council meeting Thursday, current and retired officers recognized Hackbart for her 50 years of service to the township.

Starting Friday, Hackbart, a records administrator, began her 51st year of employment with the municipality’s police department.
Lt. Ralph Johnson said Hackbart handles paperwork for dozens of sworn and civilian staff and keeps record of the thousands upon thousands of reports and dispatches in the department. She has helped the department keep track of all the documents and coordinated with other municipal agencies, the county, and state and federal agencies.
“Joan brings calm,” Johnson said.

Johnson, the police department’s second-highest ranking official, said Hackbart is able to keep track of everything that needs to be done and remind staff and officers what paperwork they still need to submit.
The council thanked Hackbart for her five decades of service.
