Bucks County and the county courts will be easing the their masking policy for public facilities.
The county and courts implemented a new mask-required policy last August. The Bucks County Commissioners required masks in common areas, but vaccinated employees didn’t have to wear them when at their workstations.

The policy has stood since that time.
In emails to employees, county and courts leadership announced the mask requirement will end on Monday, February 28.
“The commissioners have decided on this change in policy due to recent drops in COVID case counts and hospitalizations, and in recognition that the vast majority of county employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19,” the Thursday email from county officials to workers said.

The change in masking policy does not apply to Neshaminy Manor or the Bucks County Correctional Facility, where staff deal with higher-risk populations.
The county has reported a 92 percent vaccination rate among employees. The rest of the staff who is unvaccinated had to provide exemptions to the county policy.
“Those employees who have received exemptions from the vaccine policy must still wear masks while inside and continue with weekly testing. A decision about masking requirements for staff who have received exemptions will be made in the coming weeks. That decision will be made in collaboration with Court Administration and will be based on COVID data here in the county,” the email said.

Visitors to public buildings who are not vaccinated are recommended to wear masks.
The county has worked hard to get staff vaccinated. Over the past year, they have held pop-up clinics and offered gift cards and time off for staff who got vaccinated.
