Levittown Area To See Rapid Temperature Drop, Snow

After an unseasonably warm New Year’s weekend, temperatures will drop rapidly Sunday night and welcome snow to the region.

Rain will start late Sunday night into Monday morning and transition to snow in the early morning hours, according to the National Weather Service’s Mt. Holly, New Jersey field office.

The Levittown area could see anywhere from between 1 to 2 inches of snow, the season’s first measurable snowfall. Forecasters are calling for a sharp cutoff between snowfall amounts, with shore points bound to receive several inches of snow.

“Snowfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are possible in the heaviest snow on Monday morning. This will likely cause major impacts to the Monday morning commute. Even though roads may initially remain above freezing, higher snowfall rates will still lead to roads eventually becoming snow-covered in areas under warnings or advisories,” forecasters said.

In a Sunday evening briefing, forecasters noted there “remains some uncertainty in the forecast, particularly in how far northwest the snow will move inland.”

A Coastal Flood Advisory was issued for Lower Bucks County. There was an elevated risk for coastal flooding along the Delaware River south of Trenton.

The storm is expected to bring moderate winds to the region.
