Late last Wednesday night, a Falls Township patrol officer was in the area of Pennsylvania and West Trenton avenues when he spotted a black motorcycle. The bike ended up turning into the Morrisville Tavern parking lot in the township. The motorcyclist failed to use a turn signal and the brake lights failed to work, police said.

The officer went to stop the motorcycle, but it sped off after the law enforcement vehicle’s emergency lights flickered on, police said.

The motorcycle was pursued onto Big Oak Road, and the chase reached speeds on 80 MPH, police said.

During the chase, the motorcycle broke down and the motorcyclist – later identified as Slager – ran off, police said.

Officers were able to catch up with Slager and arrest him, police said.

A check on the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the motorcycle uncovered it had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia, police said.

Slager was found with a small bag of suspected methamphetamine, police said.
