Sam Simon, Penndel Fire Company’s deputy chief, said arriving crews found smoke coming from the gable vents of the residence.
Firefighters opened up the ceiling and found a slow-burning blaze that was making its way into the attic and roof area of the home, Simon said.
The residents were home and unhurt by the fire.

Simon said it took about 30 minutes for firefighters to put the blaze under control.
The fire was blamed on an electrical issue and caused minimal damage, according to interim Fire Marshal Don Harris.
