An elderly couple ended up cold and wet Saturday evening.
The couple were in a car at the St. Joseph’s Court 55-plus development off New Falls Road in Falls Township’s Levittown section around 8:30 p.m. when they lost control of their sedan. It ended up in a retention basin filled with several feet water, authorities said.

Police Chief Nelson Whitney said the water was up to the windows, but the couple was able to escape without injuries.
The couple were taken to a local hospital to be checked out, Whitney said.
Levittown Fire Company No. 1 posted on Facebook the couple was out of the car by the time they arrived. The firefighters assisted at the scene with lighting while tow truck crews removed the car.
