Next Halloween, Girard Avenue in Bristol Township’s Croydon section might be a little bit less spooky.

The popular local display might be putting on their celebration of Halloween for the last time due to outgrowing the neighborhood and concerns about crowds on the residential street, said organizer Colleen Prendergast.

“It might be the final nail in our coffin,” she said, adding scaring up volunteers has also been difficult this year.

However, Prendergast and the nonprofit behind the haunt are looking for a more suitable location for a possible revival in future years.

While the future is uncertain, the Croydon festivities will take place this year.

Croydon Haunted Hollows will host their sensory-friendly Halloween walk-through in partnership with nonprofit TB Children’s Services Sunday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 507 Girard Avenue. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.

An open-to-the-public haunting event, titled “Dead End,” will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the home. It is free, but donations are appreciated.

Prendergast gave the following preview for this year’s festivities:

Do you dig Halloween? Then step on in … to the grave that has been so-graciously dug for you by the good folks at Croydon’s very-spirited Haunted Hollows.

Face your fears from this unique vantage point … six-feet under and beneath tons of graveyard soil. And if you survive the nightmare of being buried alive, there are plenty more waiting. So put on your best face and let the ghoulish cast guide you on a nighttime stroll through a graveyard where more of your best phobias went to die … but are willing to come alive again and bury deep into your brain. And when you need respite and a little treat, head toward our haunted ice Scream truck. Afraid of the dark? Walk through the cornstalks where our Scarecrow from Hell is waiting for you. You are going on a one-way trip and no one can save you.

Colleen and Steve Prendergast started the haunted walk-through several years ago and it has only grown each year. As the fun grew, special sensory-friendly walk-throughs were planned and nonprofit status was obtained to allow for the event to giveback to the community.
