Forecasters said there could be flooding along the river, but they warned it would not be major.

The Delaware River Basin Commission reported many locations north of Philadelphia received 3 to 5 inches of rain earlier this week, which is impacting the river.

The National Weather Service was predicting the river at Burlington, New Jersey, which is across from Bristol Borough and Bristol Township, will be at the minor flood stage at points through Sunday. The river is expected to reach 10.6 feet above normal on Friday night.

The Mill Street Parking Lot often floods when the river swells. Warning signs are installed at the parking lot.

The Delaware River at Newbold Island, which sits across from Pennsbury Manor in Falls Township, was higher than normal Thursday morning.

There were road closures in place along the river in Yardley Borough and Lower Makefield Township due to the swollen river.

“If you have to travel in this area, please follow the directions of these emergency responders and obey the cones and barricades. Give yourself extra time and prepare to be detoured,” Yardley Borough police said.

The Neshaminy Creek is not expected to spill its banks.
