Bucks County reported an increase in new COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.
Last week, Bucks County had 1,266 new COVID-19 cases, a rise of about 27 percent over the prior week, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The amount of new cases last week was significantly higher than during the same time period last year. At this point last year, there were 229 new cases reported in one week.
The Bucks County Department of Health reported that 135 new COVID-19 cases were among infants to kids age 11 and 96 were in minors between the ages of 12 and 18.
The county passed 70,000 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last week.

Bucks County’s COVID-19 test positivity rate rose from 6.4 percent to 6.9 percent last week. A test positivity rate higher than 5 percent means health experts consider the spread uncontrolled.
There were five deaths of COVID-19 patients reported last week, according to data.

At the start of this week, the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals had increased by 18 percent over the week prior. There were 78 people in local hospitals being treated for COVID-19, 20 in intensive care, and six on ventilators.
Last week in Bucks County, 760 additional people became fully vaccinated, a decrease from the week prior.
A total of 339,928 Bucks Countians were partially vaccinated and 41,437 were fully vaccinated at the start of this week, according to state data.

County officials said nearly 70 percent of eligible residents had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and approximately 62 percent of eligible residents were fully vaccinated.
Data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health recently showed that nearly all people who died of COVID-19 or were hospitalized with the novel virus in recent months were not fully vaccinated.
