After more than 47 years in business, Tony’s Old Fashion Meat Store is shutting down.
The meat shop in the Newport Plaza on New Falls Road in Middletown Township’s Levittown section announced on Facebook Tuesday that they are closing. The post thanked customers for the patronage.

“Due to shortages of meat supplies, we are unable to keep up with the demand of our customers needs because of the bigger stores, such as Sams and the other big chains,” the statement said.
Demand and reduced processing activity at plants due to the COVID-19 pandemic is to blame for recent shortages and price increases for meat and poultry, according to an article from NBC News’ Today show.
Tony’s Old Fashion Meat Store has been a Levittown staple.

The owners said the store had been undergoing remodeling recently.
“This is truly sad. We are a huge supporter of small businesses and yours was the best in the area. This community loved the Meat Store,” one customer wrote on Facebook in reaction to the news.

“Thank you for giving my son his first job! I was very proud of him and the confidence he gained in himself while working there. I was sorry to hear the news of the store closing,” another customer said. “Thank you for being part of the community for so many years.”
