A man is headed to trial on charges he robbed a person in Bristol Township in July.
Bristol Township officers were called around 12:45 p.m. on July 10 to the Dow Chemical property in the 2900 block of River Road in Croydon for a possible armed robbery, according to court papers.

Officers arrived to find a man who claimed that Malcolm Xavier Shields, 28, of Bristol Township, went to the Wawa in Croydon with the man who withdrew $800 to pay for rent for an apartment he was thinking of renting, police said.
After leaving the Wawa, the two were supposed to go to Doylestown to look at an apartment the man was interested in when Shields drove to the Dow property. At the Croydon site, Shields asked the man to hand him the cash and displayed a towel that he implied was hiding a gun, police said.
The man said Shields threatened to shoot him if he did not turn over the money, according to police.

The man relayed to officers that he turned over the $800, and Shields then drove away in his silver Nissan, police said.
Shortly after the incident in Croydon, a suspect matching the description of Shields was involved in a possible carjacking at the intersection of Street and Hulmeville roads in Bensalem Township, according to court papers.
Investigators wrote in court papers that they had obtained surveillance video from the Dow property and the Wawa, which showed parts of the incident.

Police said in July that they had been checking for Shields before his arrest because he had warrants out for him.
Shields was charged the day after the alleged incident with robbery, terroristic threats, receiving stolen property, theft, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct. He has been in the county jail unable to post bail.
At a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. Wednesday morning, all charges were forwarded to Common Pleas court for trial.

Shields is also facing a trial on a drug and unregistered vehicle case out of Northampton Township. He was referred to a collection agency this week for unpaid court costs and fees for a 2014 Bensalem Township drug case, according to court papers.
