Bucks County’s new emergency management agency director is a familiar face.

Audrey Kenny, who has been leading the agency since late December when former director Scott Forster was ousted, was appointed to the post full-time last month by the Bucks County Commissioners. She will earn $111,000 per year.

Kenny has worked with the county since 2008 as the county’s director of emergency communications for one of the largest 9-1-1 systems in Pennsylvania.

Kenny said she’s pleased to take on the new role at the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency facility in Ivyland Borough.

During her time working with the county, she has been part of numerous major events that have come through the 9-1-1 center, including hurricanes, flooding, murders, large manhunts, and huge fires. She also oversaw upgrades to the county radio system. Since holding the interim emergency management agency director job, she has played a big role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recent flash flooding in Lower Bucks County.

“It was all-consuming planning for the pandemic with the health department,” she said of her recent work.

Kenny said she started her career in 1993 as a rookie dispatcher in Lancaster County, moving up during her time there. She then worked as director of 9-1-1 in York County before coming to Bucks County.

Aside from overseeing 9-1-1 operations, the agency assists in the response and planning for disasters in the county. It keeps a list of chemical companies and coordinates with other county, state, and federal agencies. Additionally, the agency runs the Bucks County Special Operations Team, which responds to hazardous material incidents.
