The National Weather Service forecasted the smoke would impact the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and New England throughout Tuesday. The smoke would largely be situated in the upper atmosphere.
An Air Quality Alert was issued for the area for people among sensitive breathing groups.
“Due to the fact that smoke particles are small and light, they can be transported hundreds if not a few thousand miles away from their source,” according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Alex DaSilva.
