The Bristol Township School District has appointed a new elementary curriculum supervisor.

Amy Coleman recently started in the role that was left vacant when Karen Snedecker, the former elementary curriculum supervisor, retired at the end of April after a long career with the district.

The school board appointed Coleman to the position at their April meeting.

“I am looking forward to working with all of the administrators, teachers, students and families to make a positive impact on student learning,” said Coleman. “I look forward to working with the community to make sure learning is fun and engaging so that all students are achieving their potential.”

Coleman is looking to get to know and understand the district as she starts her new job.

“We will be working on aligning curriculum K-12 and that is exciting to me. It will make programming more cohesive and really provide a blueprint for teaching and learning,” said Coleman. “I also value input from others and look forward to collaborating with all of the stakeholders in my new position.”

Superintendent Dr. Melanie Gehrens welcomed the new administrator.

“Amy brings a new perspective to the district and I look forward to collaborating with her on the administrative team,” said Gehrens. “Welcome to BTSD Amy!”

Coleman moved from Erie, which is about a seven hour drive away, to join the Bristol Township School District.

Before her current job, Coleman served as the director of curriculum and special programs at the Union City Area School District since 2019. She also worked as an assistant principal in Erie’s Public Schools for four and a half years. In 2017, she was recognized as the PA National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. Previously, she served as a teacher for 14 years in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
