A dog died in a Fourth of July fire in Bristol Township.
The fire was dispatched around 1:25 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Hilltop Avenue in Newportville.

Newportville Fire Company Chief John Doster said crews arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor of the home. He said firefighters began an aggressive attack on the flames, and it took about 15 to 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
Although the dog died, no residents or firefighters were injured.
Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said there was significant fire damage on the second floor and smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home.

The fire was caused by an electrical issue, the fire marshal said.
Doster stated multiple callers reported the blaze to 9-1-1.

The Red Cross was assisting the residents with temporary housing.
In addition to Newportville crews, the Croydon, Newport, Third District, and William Penn fire companies responded. The Bensalem EMS and Bristol Township police were also on the scene.
