Five people have claimed the massive winning $516 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Middletown Township’s Levittown section last month.
Pennsylvania Lottery officials confirmed the news in a statement Friday afternoon.

The five claimed the huge jackpot – the 18th largest in American history and third largest Mega Millions prize ever in Pennsylvania – through a trust named the Peace of Mind Trust.
The prize had an annuity option of $516 million or a $348 million cash option. The $348 million cash option that was chosen by the group came to $254,233,980 after taxes, according to state lottery officials.
“This is life-changing generational money. The winners live in small communities in eastern Pennsylvania and desire to keep their lives as normal as possible. Maintaining anonymity is key to ensuring that normalcy. The winning ticket was a Quick Pick,” attorneys Kurt Panouses and Christopher Mahoney said in a joint statement. Panouses leads the Florida-based Panouses Law Firm and Mahoney is an attorney with Stuckert & Yates, a Newtown Borough-based firm.

The ticket was sold in May at the 7-Eleven at the corner of Trenton and Woodbourne roads, lottery officials said.
Rumors have swirled for weeks about who won the life-altering prize. The rumors ranged from a group of teachers to kiosk workers at the Oxford Valley Mall.

The fact the prize was claimed by a trust means the winners won’t be identified.
Pennsylvania Lottery spokesperson Ewa Swope said: “Under Pennsylvania law, a lottery player has the option to form a trust to claim a lottery prize, meaning the trust is technically the claimant. Beneficiary information and other details related to the trust are considered personal financial information that is confidential, according to the law.”
“The Pennsylvania Lottery congratulates the big winners of this historic jackpot,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “We tell our players all the time that it only takes one ticket to have a chance to win a life-changing jackpot, and this Mega Millions win is a reminder of that fact. This is the largest jackpot ever won in Pennsylvania, and that’s also great news for the older Pennsylvanians who benefit from the programs the Pennsylvania Lottery funds.”

The winning ticket matched all five white balls drawn, 6-9-17-18-48 and the yellow Mega Ball 8.
The operators of the 7-Eleven earned a $100,000 prize.

The Mega Millions jackpot run started on Friday, February 19 and ended Friday, May 21. The run earned $16.6 million to support programs for older Pennsylvanians.
Lottery officials said the chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately 1 in 302 million.

The game is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
