Officers in the area of Lincoln Highway and Durham Road observed a vehicle driving with a cover on the license plate that prohibited the viewing the plate from a reasonable distance. The vehicle then turned into the gas station at Lincoln Highway and Durham Road. When officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver and sole occupant appeared to be asleep behind the wheel while stopped at the gas pump. The driver was ID’d as a 42-year-old man. While speaking with the man, officers could detect the odor or alcohol coming from his breath and person. The man was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises which he was unable to complete. The man was arrested for suspected DUI and he will be sent a summons to appear in court.

DUI
While on patrol, an officer came across two vehicles stopped in the roadway on Durham Road by LeGrande Avenue. One of the drivers was flagging down the passing officer. When the officer approached the vehicles, he found that one had a large trashcan wedged under the front bumper. The male that had flagged down the officer indicated that the other person on scene, a female, was the driver of the other car. When speaking with the female, ID’d as a 26-year-old woman. The woman wasn’t able to say where she hit the trashcan and reported that she was on the way to Philadelphia from “the boulevard”. The woman appeared to be unsteady on her feet and when asked to perform field sobriety testing and was unable to complete them. A check of PennDOT records indicated that the woman’s driver’s license was suspended. The woman was arrested for suspected DUI-Drug related and charges are pending the outcome of lab testing.

DUI
An officer on patrol observed a male subject standing in front of a closed business on Lincoln Highway. After checking on the subject, ID’d as a 34-year-old man, he reported that he had a few drinks this evening and got into an argument with his girlfriend who told him to “get out of the car”. The man reported that he was fine and would wait at the 7-Eleven for an Uber to take him home. After releasing the man, the officer went across the street to perform a routine property check. There he found a vehicle with severe front end damage. Looking back at the vehicle’s track, it was found that the grass was disturbed and there was evidence of a curb strike and possible a roll of the vehicle. Two bystanders from an apartment building nearby reported that they heard a bang, saw the vehicle outside and a male fitting the man’s description exit the vehicle and walk across the street where he stood until the officer found the man. The registration of the vehicle came back to the man. The officer attempted to find the man but wasn’t able to find him at the 7-Eleven or in the surrounding area. Other evidence was found at the scene to indicate that the man was in the vehicle and left the scene after the accident. Charges are going to be filed and a summons will be issued to for the man to appear in court.

Public Drunkenness
Officers were called to the Mill Creek Apartments for a subject being loud, boisterous, and attempting to break into an apartment building. Officers met with a male subject, ID’d as a 26-year-old man. While speaking to the man, officers could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. The man indicated that he was trying to get into his friend’s apartment, but didn’t have a key. The man wasn’t able to tell officers the name of the friend of who he was staying with, but did say which apartment he was trying to go to. Officers attempted to make access to the apartment, but no one answered the door. The man was told he needed to get an Uber home as he was no longer allowed to stay at the complex. While waiting for the ride, the man wasn’t able to maintain his balance and fell into the officers standing next to him. The man was told to sit on the ground until the Uber showed up. Due to his conduct, The man will be issued a citation for public drunkenness.

An officer was driving on Lincoln Highway observed a vehicle that was driving without any functioning rear lights. The vehicle was stopped and contact was made with driver and sole occupant, a 29-year-old man. While speaking with the man, officers could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man gave consent to search his vehicle and suspected marijuana was found in the center console. The man did not display any indication of being under the influence and will be sent a summons to appear in court.

Around 1 a.m., an officer observed a red sedan driving on Lincoln Highway without a functioning driver’s side headlight. In addition, the registration on the vehicle came back as “Tag Only” status, which is an informational record, and not for use on a motor vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 17-year-old driver. While speaking to the driver, the officer could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Marijuana and paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle. The subject’s parents were called and they both arrived on scene. Both the car and the subject were released to the parents. In addition to the charges for possession of the marijuana and paraphernalia, the subject will be cited for driving without a functioning headlight, driving at a prohibited time for minors and a registration violation.

An officer observed a vehicle driving on Lincoln Highway without functioning rear lights. The vehicle was stopped and contact was made with the driver and sole occupant, a 29-year-old man. While speaking with the man, the officer could smell the distinct odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, The man indicated that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening. The man was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises, which he was unable to complete. The man was arrested for suspected DUI. Suspected marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. The man will be sent a summons to appear in court.

An officer was conducting a ‘click it or ticket’ detail when a vehicle went past the officer at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and contact was made with the driver and sole occupant, a 19-year-old man. During the investigation, the officer could detect the distinct odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man indicated that he had marijuana in the vehicle and gave it to the officer. The man did not appear to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol that would impair his ability to drive his vehicle, and he was released from the scene. The man will be sent a summons to appear in court.
