Students at Bucks County Technical High School in Bristol Township constructed training devices for police dogs.
On Tuesday, students turned over a scent detection training wall and scent detection training boxes they built to law enforcement, according to the Falls Township Police Department.

The project has been in the works over the past year. Area police K-9 handlers worked with carpentry instructor and NCCER master instructor Evan Baker and instruction facilitator Larry Breault on the equipment. Students from the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program Community Construction Club and the carpentry program at the technical high school that pulls students from many Lower Bucks County high schools made the devices.
The scent wall and scene detection training boxes will help local police dogs in training to locate explosives and dangerous narcotics around the area, police said.
“After all of their hard work, students were given the chance to watch as the police canines tested out the final product. They were provided lecture towards the science behind scent detection and a practical demonstration of the police dogs abilities,” police said in a statement.

Students had the chance to meet with the Bristol Township and Falls Township police K-9 handlers and their four-legged partners.
“The involved police departments, officers, and of course the police dogs, would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the students and staff. Your hard work will help keep members of the community safe,” police said in a statement.
