A driver was backing down the I-95 – Pennsylvania Turnpike connector ramp Wednesday morning when a tractor-trailer hit his Nissan sedan, causing the truck to go off the embankment, according to authorities.

Pennsylvania State Police said the Nissan, which was driven by a 38-year-old Philadelphia man, was attempting to back down the fly ramp when it entered the left lane of travel. At that point, the tractor-trailer driven by a 71-year-old Morrisville man attempted to stop and slid into the car. The tractor-trailer striking the car caused the Nissan to spin around. The truck then went down the left side of the highway embankment on its side.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia for an injury, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment, state police said.
The crash closed the highway for some time as troopers investigated and wreckers from Rob’s Automotive removed the tractor-trailer.
