A 32-year-old Falls Township woman was sentenced to prison for filing a series of false auto insurance claims.

Shaminga L. Davis, of the Morrisville section of the township, was sentenced Wednesday to four to 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Facility by Bucks County Judge Theodore Fritsch. He also ordered her to be on probation for five years, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Davis pleaded guilty in January to insurance fraud and theft by deception. On Wednesday, she pleaded guilty in an unrelated retail theft case.

Between March 2016 and March 2018, Davis defrauded two auto insurance companies of almost $40,000, prosecutors said.

The Bucks County Detectives received a referral from an insurance company and began investigating. They uncovered Davis submitted seven claims under a State Farm Insurance policy and filed another through a Geico policy under her ex-boyfriend’s name, authorities said.

The probe found some of the claims were duplicates, authorities said.

After receiving payment through insurance, Davis would sometimes allege she was never paid and get a second payment, cashing both checks, authorities said.
