Bristol Borough’s latest piece of public art will be dedicated with a public celebration on Tuesday.
At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a ceremony with COVID-19 safety measures in place will happen outside the new mural celebrating the 1961 Billboard Hot 100 song the “Bristol Stomp.” The mural is located on the side of the William Penn Bank branch, which sponsored the creation, at the corner of Market Street and Old Route 13.

The ceremony on Tuesday will feature comments by the artists, bank leaders, and local officials. There will be a DJ, vintage cars of the era, hot dogs, and pop corn for the kids, and a Bristol Stomp contest for willing participants.
The mural was painted by Tony Napoli, a longtime art teacher in the Pennsbury School District. He was assisted by Bristol Borough native John Ennis, a nationally-known portrait artist, and borough resident AnnieRose Kruzinski, one of Napoli’s former students.
Napoli hopes the mural will be a location for photo opportunities for visitors and locals.

The new mural was inspired by area artist Bridget Ennis Shaw’s model of two dancers doing the Bristol Stomp, a popular song among dancers at a fire hall in the town. The model’s look will be incorporated into the mural.
Bristol Borough’s growing public art scene includes a mural at Penn Community Bank at the Mill Street Parking Lot, mural on Old Route 13, and one on Market Street.
