Gas prices in the Levittown area have slightly dropped in recent weeks.
The average Levittown-area gas price dropped from about $3.02 this time last month to $2.97 this week, a trend seen regionally and nationally.

The five-county Philadelphia region, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic, is at $2.94, down 2 cents from last week.
โWe anticipate gasoline demand will continue to increase throughout the month as vaccinations become more widely available and weather turns warmer,โ said Jana Tidwell, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. โThis will lead to fluctuation at the pump throughout the spring season.โ
โIt has been a fairly tame last few weeks at the pump for most areas after a particularly active February and March when prices were screaming higher,โ said Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis for online tracking service GasBuddy. โAfter surging back then, weโve seen the price increases fade, and while we havenโt seen much of a decline, prices have been holding near their yearly highs.

Gas demand fell last week for the first time in seven weeks. Easter holiday travel and the nation coming out of the worst of the pandemic led to growing travel.
“Make no mistake, gas prices this year will be tied to the hip of the COVID situation,” De Haan said.
