The United Liberian Association of Bucks County will be opening a community center in Bristol Township.
The Lower Bucks County-based organization will be signing a lease to rent the county-owned home at 6100 Mill Creek Road at Black Ditch Park in Bristol Township’s Levittown section. The county will charge $5 and the lease will run from April 1 until March 31, 2026.

The nonprofit that offers fellowship and programs for Liberian immigrants and refugees in the county will be using the building and property for events benefiting residents of all ages.
Bucks County Commissioner Gene DiGirolamo said 6,000 to 7,000 Liberians live in the county, with many coming to the area after a civil war in their African country tore the nation apart.
“They are just wonderful people,” DiGirolamo said.

“Many of the children, due to the civil war, were unable to go to school for a long time, This community center is going to be used for literacy, after-school programs, educational programs, tutoring, and career development,” said the commissioner who has known the work of the group for years.
Isaac Junius, a member of the United Liberian Association of Bucks County, said the group wanted to expand their programing but lacked the space. The property on Mill Creek Road will help them in their mission.

“We are so happy and excited, and I’ve come on behalf of the community to express our profound gratitude to the commissioners and other people in Bucks County for giving us this place. This has been a place long in the waiting,” Junius said.
Pete McElroy, the county’s property manager, said the home was renovated by county general service staff within the past few years.
The property has previously been rented as a residence, but it has been empty for a few years.
