Levittown Native Part Of Buccaneers’ Super Bowl Coaching Staff

A Levittown native will be taking part in the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Keith Armstrong, 57, the special teams coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be taking part in the big game that will see the Buccaneers face-off against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Armstrong is a native of Levittown and a 1982 graduate of Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Bristol Township.

The former Bucks Countian played football at Conwell-Egan and Temple University.

Armstrong found success working with the coaching staff at Temple. He also worked with colleges teams in Ohio and Florida, along with Oklahoma State and Notre Dame.

He began working with the Atlanta Falcons in 1994 as safeties coach. In 1996, he became the Falcon’s secondary coach before going to the Chicago Bears from 1997 to 2000. Armstrong became the special teams coordinator for the Miami Dolphins from 2001 to 2007 before returning to the Falcons as special teams coordinator from 2008 to 2018. He joined the Buccaneers in 2019.

News reports indicated that Armstrong met with the Philadelphia Eagles about the head coach job in 2012. He also was looked at for the head coaching job by the Kansas City Chiefs some years back.

Armstrong is married and has two daughters.

The Buccaneers are lead by Coach Bruce Arians, who was Armstrong’s coach at Temple and went to high school in York County.
