Police Log: Man Arrested For Assault, Overdose Death & More

An officer was dispatched to the area of the Penndel Shopping Center for a man reportedly being chased by multiple armed subjects. The subject was running on LeGrande Avenue towards Middletown Township. The subject was found in the area ofย Toyota Collision Center on Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township. Other officers in the area were unable to find any subjects that matched the description of the armed persons. An identification check found that the man had an active warrant from Philadelphia. A check with the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office confirmed the warrant. The man was arrested and taken back to the station to await officers from the Philadelphia Sheriff’s office. Upon their arrival, the man was handed over to their custody.

January 7

DUI

Around 1:30 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Lincoln Highway without functioning rear lights. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, and sole occupant, was identified as a 33-year-old man. While speaking with the man, the officer could detect the distinct and strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man’s eyes were glassy and he had a hard time following directions. The man was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises, which he was unable to complete. The man also refused a blood draw at St. Mary Medical Center. The man was taken to the Bensalem police station for fingerprinting and released. A summons to appear in court will be sent to the man.

Assault

Officers were called to a residence on Centre Street for the report of a disturbance. Dispatchers reported that they could hear signs of distress in the background. During the course of the investigation, officers found that the victim had minor abrasions and red marks on her body. The 26-year-old man was in the residence and was arrested for simple assault. A court date is pending.

An officer was called to a business on Lincoln Highway for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Owners of the business reported that a red vehicle was sitting in their parking lot for a long period of time. A similar vehicle was in their lot for a long period of time the night before. An officer made contact with the driver, and sole occupant, who was identified as a 38-year-old man. A check of his driving status indicated there was an active warrant from Delaware County. The warrant was confirmed and the man was arrested. The man was taken to the Penndel police station to await the arrival of Delaware County constables.

January 17

Overdose

Officers responded with EMS for an unconscious person on Monroe Avenue. EMS and officers found a deceased male in a room on the second floor of the house. Possession Of A Controlled Substance

An officer in the area of Lincoln Highway and Glenn Avenue performed a check of the registration of the vehicle in front of him. The registration came back expired in June 2020. The vehicle was stopped and contact was made with the driver and sole occupant, a 35-year-old man. The man’s driver’s license status came back as suspended. During the traffic stop, suspected heroin was located within the vehicle. The man was arrested for the possession and a summons will be sent to him to come to court.
