Neshaminy Graduate With Family History In Law Enforcement Joins Middletown Police Force

Middletown Township swore in a new police officer Tuesday evening.

Officer Joseph Heller, 27, of Middletown Township, joined the township’s police department after 3 1/2 years working in Newtown Borough and 1 1/2 years in Bristol Borough.

Chief Joseph Bartorilla said Heller enjoys hockey and was driven to police work in honor of his grandfather who served as a Bucks County Detective. Heller is a Neshaminy High School graduate.

Middletown Township Board of Supervisors Chairperson Tom Tosti wished the officer luck in his new role.

Also during the meeting, the supervisors approved the purchase of one Dodge Charger and two Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles.

The chief said the vehicles will cost $123,000.69 and that will largely be picked up by grant funds. To save funds, the township will reuse in-car camera equipment.
