Falls Township is seeking to quash smoking on most areas municipal-owned property.
The Falls Township Board of Supervisors have agreed to advertise a proposed an ordinance change that would prohibit smoking on any township property except in designated areas. The proposed ordinance would ban smoking of cigarettes, cigars, pipes, other lighted smoking instruments, and vaping.

“This mirrors what we did at the parks a few years back,” township solicitor Lauren Gallagher said.
The township has banned smoking at their parks since 2012 and other municipalities have done the same as the dangers of smoking have become more clear.
The supervisors will advertise the proposal and vote on the ordinance at their meeting on Tuesday, February 16.

Pennsylvania’s Clean Indoor Air Act became law in 2008 and bans smoking in most indoor places.
In other business, the supervisors approved purchasing four 2021 Ford Police Interceptor Utility patrol vehicles to be upfitted for use. One of the vehicles is replacing one that was damaged in a crash. A fifth vehicle for the detective unit will be purchased later.

The supervisors also approved the purchase of a 2021 Ford Explorer for the fire marshal’s office to replace a Ford F-250 from 2004.
