A Bristol Borough attorney running for district attorney suspended his campaign this week.
Danny Ceisler, a Democrat, launched his run in December and raised more than $200,000 in recent weeks. He was set to face-off against fellow Democrat Antonetta Stancu in the spring primary. Republican incumbent District Attorney Matt Weintraub is looking to keep the seat.

Following last week’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and the ongoing domestic terrorism threat, Ceisler, a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard who previously served on a joint special operations task force in Afghanistan, has been activated to serve on the Domestic Unrest Crisis Management Team at the Pentagon.
The candidate sent a letter to the Bucks County Democratic Committee Thursday evening alerting them of the campaign suspension and his deployment.
The U.S. Department of Defense has a policy that restricts service members who are on active duty from engaging in political activity.

As a candidate, Ceisler supported reforming the criminal justice system, treating addiction as a disease and not a crime, and prioritizing domestic abuse cases.
As an attorney, Ceisler’s campaign noted he “exclusively represents victims in their fight for justice.”

“I am so incredibly grateful for the support so many of you have given to this campaign. I am incredibly proud of the work we have put into it. Our fundraising has shattered records, our Zoom events have had incredible turnouts, and our dedicated army of volunteers have been ready to stuff envelopes, make phone calls, send postcards, or do whatever has needed to be done on a moment’s notice,” Ceisler wrote in a letter to Democrats.
Looking toward the future, Ceisler said he would keep a run for office in the mix.
“I want to serve,” he told LevittownNow.com.

“A true patriot puts his needs second to that of our country. Today, Danny Ceisler announced that he is once again selflessly answering the call to defend our freedom. I am grateful to Danny for his continuing devotion to our nation and our democracy. Thank you Danny. Get home safe,” Stancu said in a social media post on her campaign page.
