The Bucks County Correctional Facility’s warden is out.
Warden Paul Lagana is gone as the top leader at the Doylestown Township campus that has been in the headlines for how the county handles people with mental health problems and COVID-19 cases behind bars.

Sources with knowledge of correctional center operations said management acknowledged Lagana would no longer being running the facility over the past days.
The reason for Lagana’s departure was not released.
“Paul Lagana’s separation from employment with the county becomes effective this Monday, Jan. 4. Because we don’t comment publicly on personnel issues I can’t elaborate on the circumstances,” said county communications director Larry King.

Between the correctional facility and community corrections, the county prison system saw 850 people under their supervision last month, according to a departmental census.
Deputy Warden David Galione has been appointed to serve as acting warden, and Community Corrections Manager Carl Metellus will serve as acting deputy warden, King said.

Lagana was hired by the Bucks County Commissioners in early 2017. He came to the county with three decades of law enforcement experience, including oversight of prisons. The job was open after former Warden Terrance Moore retired.
This week, Bucks County’s top emergency management official, Scott Forster, was ousted abruptly from his job. The county has not commented on the reason.
