What forecasters are calling a “major” midweek winter storm is headed toward the Levittown area.

The nor’easter is expected to impact the area Wednesday afternoon before ending on Thursday. The National Weather Service said the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commute will “likely be severely impacted by the winter storm.”

The snowfall forecast for Lower Bucks County is 8 to 18 inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said the range in snowfall amounts are “dependent upon if the snow changes over or mixes with rain or sleet.”

“Snow amounts could be significant near and north of the I-95 corridor. Snowfall rates could reach 1 to 2 inches per hour for a time late day Wednesday into Wednesday night,” forecasters said.

In advance of the storm, forecasters issued a Winter Storm Watch for Bucks County and surrounding areas.

A hazardous weather briefing issued by forecasters predicted a chance of some minor flooding along the Delaware River in Lower Bucks County and strong winds.
