Torsella made the announcement on the Friends of Torsellaย YouTube page.ย
โLike anyone who runs for elected office,” Torsella said, โI really wanted to win my race.โย
โItโs hard to lose,โ Torsella admitted to his supporters, โitโs especially heartbreaking when it looks like itโs going to be by such a tiny margin.โ

As of Tuesday afternoon, Torsella trailed Garrity, a retired U.S. Army reserve colonel, by a little more than 75,000 votes, according toย unofficial tallies.
“I ran on a platform of changing the culture in Harrisburg and bringing transparency to the treasurer’s office, and that’s exactly what I plan to do,” Garrity said.

In addition to being known for running one of the state governmentโs most humorous social media accounts, Torsella was known for divesting from Wall Street firms and his tough stance on private equity running Pennsylvaniaโs pension fund.ย
Garrityโs win means that Republicans will control two of the three row office seats, with only Attorney General Josh Shapiro remaining.ย
