A Bristol Township man is headed to federal prison following his sentencing Monday.
Dennis D. Davis, 34, of Bristol Township’s Levittown section was sentenced to 16 years behind bars and three years of supervised released during a hearing in front of U.S. District Judge Mitchell Goldberg.

In March, Davis was convicted in federal court in Philadelphia on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance
Davis was taken into custody after a “dramatic car chase” in Middletown Township in July 2017.
According to federal authorities and court papers filed by Middletown police in 2017, Davis was driving near Bristol-Oxford Valley and Woodbourne roads when he failed to stop for a Middletown officer. He sped off and caused a crash at a busy intersection of Bristol-Oxford Valley and New Falls roads on the border of Middletown and Bristol Township. Davis then pulled his car into a nearby parking lot and jumped out of his vehicle. He fled on foot into Bristol Township and was later captured.

Davis, who was already a felon, ditched a purse containing a gun, drugs paraphernalia, and crack cocaine, authorities said.
A total of $1,000 cash was located in Davis’ car.

The trial featured a number of pieces of evidence, including fingerprints from the gun, civilian eyewitnesses, and several law enforcement witnesses who participated in the chase and the man’s capture.
“In possession of a loaded revolver and large quantity of crack cocaine, Dennis Davis decided to evade a lawful traffic stop,” said Michael J. Driscoll, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division. “He ran because he wasn’t supposed to have that gun, wasn’t meant to be dealing drugs again, and didn’t want to go back to prison. Clearly, it didn’t work. We’re just fortunate no one was badly injured or killed as he recklessly fled that day. Getting guns, drugs, and dangerous criminals like Davis off the street is a priority for the FBI and our local law enforcement partners.”
“In choosing to flee from police and cause a car crash at a busy intersection, Davis showed complete disregard for the safety of innocent people,” said U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania William McSwain. “He also showed complete disregard for the law by illegally possessing a firearm and dangerous drugs. The streets of Bucks County are safer now that Davis will be behind bars for many years.”
