Three pythons – the smallest about 4-feet in length – were located Monday in the area of the Five Points intersections and nearby homes in the Quincy Hollow neighborhood in Middletown Township’s Levittown section.

The township’s animal control officer is investigating how the pythons ended up in the suburban area, but it is suspected they were pets that were abandoned, Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said.

The three pythons, which are native to west and central Africa, were taken to the Bucks County SPCA to be cared for. One of the snakes died, Bartorilla said.

“They are not a threat to anyone, and we are asking that if anyone sees any additional to please call our non-emergency line at 215-949-1000 and our ACO will respond right away,” the chief said.

Police are seeking information on who may have abandoned the animals and ask anyone with tips to contact their non-emergency line to speak to a patrol officer or the animal control officer.
