An unknown number of employees at the Bucks County Justice Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

The positive coronavirus cases among staff at the Doylestown Borough courthouse that serves the entire county have led to a small number of hearing continuations, but court operations are continuing after strict contact tracing and cooperation with the Bucks County Health Department, officials said.

County officials could not confirm exactly how many employees tested positive or in which parts of the county government the infections took place, but sources have said the number of cases has grown over the past few days.

In a statement released on behalf of Bucks County President Judge Wallace Bateman, the county court system affirmed that cooperation with the health department and contact tracing were instituted closely following the diagnoses.

โ€œThe court will continue to observe proper masking, social distance protocols and sanitation procedures. The Justice Center is open and will continue to operate as normal,โ€ the statement
said.

The recent rise in cases in Doylestown will have no impact on the tabulation of election results, Larry King, director, the commissionersโ€™ office of public information, told LevittownNow.com in an email. County employees, including from the Justice Center, are assisting the Bucks County Board of Elections, which is based across the street at the Bucks County Administration Building.

The Bucks County Justice Center remained open but had less staff inside during the pandemic’s early weeks. Court staffing expanded over the summer as full operations resumed.

The word of the cases in the county courts come as Bucks County reported a 44.5 percent week-over-week increase in cases.
