The president’s son said the campaign was effective in 2016 because the eldest Trump “spoke from the heart” and didn’t have the political habits that his Democratic and Republican challengers had.

He said “somebody was looking down” and helped the Trump campaign win the 2016 election. He said there needs to be a revival of faith and family, pointing to civil unrest happening in western states.

In September, The Atlantic reported that the president has privately said made comments showing cynicism and contempt for Christians. During his first campaign, Donald Trump has said he does not ask for forgiveness and “does not bring God into that picture” when he makes errors, according to CNN.

A Pew Research poll from earlier this year found that most Americans feel the president is not particularly religious.

President Trump and his administration have championed religious freedom in speeches. His campaign has made Christian support a bedrock of the 2020 campaign.
