Shots rang out in Bristol Borough Tuesday evening just about 200 feet from the back door of the police station.
A number of shots were fired in the 200 block of Wood Street near the intersection with Mulberry Street around 5:30 p.m., police Chief Steve Henry said.

“The operator of a cream colored SUV exited his vehicle and fired several rounds down the street. There were several individuals on the sidewalk at the time,” a police statement read, adding no one was hit by the gunfire.
The suspect returned to the vehicle before fleeing the scene, police said.
The suspect who fired the shots was described by police as a slim 5-foot-10 black male with his hair in dreadlocks.

As of evening, investigators placed about a half-dozen evidence markers on the street and had the area roped off.
Several LevittownNow.com readers reported hearing between four and seven gunshots ring out around 5:30 p.m.

“I was sitting on my couch and I heard four of them,” one bystander said, adding he went outside and could smell the cordite powder from the shots fired.
The bystander said neighbors rushed outside and police arrived quickly, gathering information on the suspect vehicle and grabbing video from home security systems.
A mask and cell phone were reportedly dropped at the scene and may have been connected to the suspect, the bystander said.

“I can’t believe they did it right by the police precinct,” a female bystander said in a phone call.
The police chief said his department continued to investigate the shooting as of 8 p.m.
