A home in Middletown Township was destroyed after an early Tuesday morning blaze.

Fire crews from the Penndel, Langhorne-Middletown, Nottingham, and William Penn fire companies were dispatched around 1:25 a.m. to the 300 block of Delaware Avenue, which sits off Durham Road, for a reported blaze.

The residents weren’t home early in the morning but their neighbors heard popping, spotted the fire, and called 9-1-1, Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said.

Video posted by the Penndel Fire Company shows heavy fire coming from the residence.

McGuire said the fire caused the home to collapse in on itself. The residence was deemed a total loss.

Investigators were at the home until mid-morning, but no cause was determined due to the extensive damage, the fire marshal said.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for a minor injury. The firefighter was released in the hours after the blaze, McGuire said.
