A local food pantry is seeking donations of backpacks to benefit local veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Mary’s Cupboard, which located at the Catholic Social Services site at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Levittown Parkway in Tullytown Borough, is working with Francis Drummond, commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Vietnam Memorial Chapter 85 in Bensalem, to collect backpacks. The bags will be filled with clothing and food essentials that will then be distributed throughout the Bucks County and Philadelphia area to men and women in need, according to organizers.

“Those interested in helping our neighbors in need can support this initiative by donating new and gently used backpacks to Mary’s Cupboard during the following days and times. No appointment is necessary. All must adhere to guidelines set forth by governmental health agencies,” organizers said.
Drop-off days include:
- Monday, September 21: 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 23: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Friday, September 25: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The collection is part on an ongoing project that helps those in need.

Mary’s Cupboard opened in 1976 and has helped 86,000 individuals and families over the decades.
