A spike in new COVID-19 cases last week doesn’t appear to be continuing into this week, according to the Bucks County Health Department.
Between Tuesday and Thursday night, the county reported 80 new cases with five of those being cases so delayed that they are no longer considered active.

The county reported 27 new infections on Tuesday, 23 on Wednesday, and 30 on Thursday.
“This week is a good example of what we’re likely to experience for the foreseeable future,” Bucks County Health Department Director Dr. David Damsker said in a statement. “Our case counts and hospitalization numbers fluctuated a little bit over the past seven days, and since we won’t be at zero cases any time soon, this makes a lot of sense. Thankfully, the overall numbers are very good, and the ups and downs are minor.”
Of the 80 new cases, 32 cases were caught through household spread, 18 were from community spread, six were at long-term care facilities, five were due to out-of-state travel, four were health care workers, four were employees at other workplaces, and 11 people were not not immediately able to be interviewed.

An 82-year-old Bucks County man and a 49-year-old woman died of COVID-19 and both had underlying conditions.
As of Thursday evening, seven residents were hospitalized and two were in critical condition on ventilators.

Since the pandemic began, a total of 7,662 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the county, 524 have died, and 6,763 have recovered.
