The Falls Township police officer badly hurt in a highway ramp crash last month returned home Wednesday.
Officer Jeff Rhodunda, who comes from a law enforcement family, was welcomed home for recovery after being at St. Mary Medical Center since the night of the crash that left him critically injured late Saturday, August 22, reported Lt. Nelson Whitney, the acting police chief.

Rhodunda suffered a number of serious injuries after his Ford Police Interceptor left the Route 1 ramp to I-295 east in Middletown Township as he pursued a motorcycle around 9:40 p.m. on August 22. The police vehicle left the ramp, struck a tree, and flipped, causing a small fire. Firefighters worked for a little bit more than 30 minutes to get Rhodunda freed from the SUV, authorities said.
Police confirmed last week that Rhodunda was chasing a royal blue motorcycle that was being operated by an unidentified man. The officer was attempting to stop the sport motorcycle that was “operated in a reckless manner near a residential area in Falls Township” when it fled.
The operator of the motorcycle has not been charged as of Wednesday.

Whitney said the investigation is ongoing.
Thanks to donations the Police Association of Falls Township (PAFT) has upped the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the operator of the motorcycle to $6,000.
