A home was damaged by a Friday evening fire caused by lightning from a passing storm.
The home was struck by lightning shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Mercer Court off Lincoln Highway in Falls Township.

Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the lightning caused a fire in the walls of a townhome and ended up being fed by a punctured gas line. The blaze was eventually fully extinguished after fire crews did their work and utility workers shut off service.
The residents heard the thunder, the noise from the strike, and then smelled smoke. They escaped and avoided injury, Dippolito said.
The home was left damaged by fire and smoke.
