The vast majority of Levittown-area PECO customers have seen service restored as of Friday afternoon.

Numbers from the utility company at noon reported that about 690 local customers remained in the dark. That number is down from a high of about 27,700 in the hours after Tropical Storm Isaias moved through the area Tuesday.

The tropical storm brought heavy rain and strong winds, taking down wires, trees, and large limbs.

Nick Mart, a PECO spokesperson, said utility crews and contractors have flooded the region and have been working around the clock to restore service. About 1,600 to 1,700 additional workers are assisting with restoration tasks.

PECO said crews from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas have come into the area to assist with repair work.

Across PECO’s service area in Bucks County, a total of 3,700 customers were without service as of Friday morning. The central portion of the county was also hit hard and a tornado touched down in Doylestown.
