Levittown-area police departments will be taking part in a statewide aggressive-driving enforcement wave.
Starting Wednesday and running through Sunday, August 23, Bristol Township and Penndel Borough will join Pennsylvania State Police and close to 60 other law enforcement agencies around Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties in the effort designed to reduce crashes and injuries on roadways.

“The enforcement wave will focus on red light running, tailgating, pedestrian safety and heavy truck violations. Motorists exhibiting other aggressive actions or unsafe behaviors such as speeding or distracted driving may also be cited,” PennDOT said in a statement.
Data from PennDOT shows that in 2019 there were 1,546 aggressive-driving related crashes, resulting in 22 fatalities in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
Last year, more than 39,000 aggressive-driving related contacts were made across the state by police. There were 22,353 drivers cited for speeding and 3,077 cited for failure to stop for red lights and stop signs.

PennDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are funding the enforcement effort.
