A tire company has opened a new facility in Bristol Township.

McCarthy Tire Service moved late last week from a location in Bensalem to a larger site at 1901 Hartel Avenue in Bristol Township. The Hartel Avenue site was previously the home to Gallagher Tire and has been renovated.

The new 40,000-square-foot location handles tire sales and service for commercial trucks, buses, industrial equipment, off-the-road vehicles, and farm tractors and implements; a mounted tire program; and fleet services for the region for McCarthy Tire Service.

Starting this month, McCarthy Tire will transition its industrial tire business in Philadelphia also to the Bristol Township site.

“This new location is very convenient for our customers,” said John D. McCarthy Jr., president of Wilkes-Barre-based McCarthy Tire Service. “It’s only two miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-95.The property has easy access, large service bays, and a good-sized parking lot. We set up a nice waiting area with free WiFi and plenty of hot coffee.”

The location saw renovation work begin in winter and halted in spring due to the pandemic. However, work resumed in May and the project was completed ahead of schedule, according to McCarthy Tire.

Matthew McLernan, who manages the Philadelphia location, will take on the same role at the combined operation and Bensalem location assistant manager Sherry Beck keep her role at the new site.

The new location brings 17 employees from the Bensalem location to Bristol Township and will move 10 from Philadelphia to the combined operation. A spokesperson for the company said the company looks to expand in the coming years.

Jim Scott of real estate firm Colliers brokered the transaction for the location.
