As Gov. Tom Wolf gave his official approval for Bucks County and the region to move to the “green” phase starting next Friday, Bucks County continued to report a low rate of new infections.
On Friday, 22 new cases were reported to the county health, but nine were cases so delayed that the patients are no longer considered infectious.

Among the freshly reported cases, 14 were residents or workers at long-term care facilities, four were got sick through household contacts, two were through community spread, one was caught in a workplace, and one was not able to be interviewed by contact tracers.
Three new deaths of COVID-19 were reported. Two of those who died were long-term care center residents with underlying health problems.

As of Friday evening, 75 Bucks Countians were in hospitals with COVID-19 and 13 were in critical condition on ventilators.
“We’re very excited for all businesses to finally open next Friday; it’s been a long road for many of them,” said Dr. David Damsker, director of the Bucks County Health Department. “Our citizens have done a terrific job of being mindful of the precautions needed to keep community spread of COVID low, and we need them to continue doing so in the green phase.”

Masks and social distancing are simple ways to keep the spread of COVID-19 low, Damsker said Thursday.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 5,211 confirmed cases and 2,936 recoveries in the county.
