A number of Bristol Borough events are casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The borough has put a hold on events on their property through mid-June, Bristol Borough Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said during Monday’s meeting.

The state’s COVID-19 mitigation measures include prohibitions of large events. The end date for those measures is not yet known.
The Bristol Borough Antique Auto Show has already announced their annual spring event will be postponed and First Friday on the Delaware has not yet announced dates for this year. DiGuiseppe said that there will be no summer concert series along the river and Puerto Rican Day Festival this summer.
The African-American Cultural Festival, Bristol Italian Day Festival, Doo Wop Concert in the Park, and Historic Bristol Day remain slated.

DiGuiseppe said the borough will take another look at where things come late July.
“We don’t want to cancelled something in September if the governor gives you a green light and things are okay,” he said.

For a riverfront town known regionally for their warm-weather festivals, the cancellation of events will have an impact on shops and eateries in the central business district.
